Our puppies are raised in our home as a part of our family, from the moment they take that first breath at birth until they go to their forever homes. We love birthdays around here, so each week on their birthday, we celebrate with updated photos. We want you to enjoy and watch the puppies grow. It is amazing how they go from fitting in the palm of my hand at birth to lugging around like a baby at eight weeks of age. The puppies are dewormed every two weeks beginning at two weeks of age. Weekly birthdays are an exciting day, besides being picture day, each will have a spa day; nail trims, brushing, trimmings when needed and extra individual love and one on one attention.
We will begin preparing for their new life away from the farm early on. We begin potty training, crate training, leash training and introduction to water. Socialization is very important to a puppy, they will be around humans of all ages and dogs of all ages. We introduce them to many walking surfaces from tile to wood floors, asphalt, the deck, grass and dirt. Their living quarters are right in the middle of our home, so they are accustomed to the noises of a typical home; the tv, cooking, cleaning, the coming and goings of the humans and dogs and of course, the dogs barking. We must be alerted of any possible intruders or to make sure we know that UPS/FedEx/USPS has arrived with possible goodies.
Each puppy will be vet examined and first set of vaccinations at seven weeks of age. This visit will consist of a puppy well-check exam. We begin with a fecal to ensure the puppy does not have internal parasites. Then the veterinarian will observe their overall attitude, listen to their heart and lungs, palpate the abdomen, check teeth and gums, look into eyes and ears and check their weight. We complete our visit with their first round of vaccinations.
Our puppies are available to begin going home at eight weeks of age. All are pure breed, AKC Registered - Limited Registration for pet homes.
We would love to welcome you to the A-Team family!
About the Breed The Lagotto Romagnolo
The Lagotto Romagnolo is a breed of dog that comes from the Romagna sub-region of Italy. The name means "lake dog from Romagna, " originating from the Italian word lago, meaning lake. This is what led us to the breed, we love the water and love a dog that loves water as well. Our first Lagotto family members, our original 3 that became our A-Team, traveled to us from Serbia. Our A-Team has grown over the years and travelled from far away but quickly become one of our own!
The Lagotto is a small to medium-sized dog, well proportioned, powerfully built, of a rustic appearance, with a dense, curly coat of woolly texture. They are considered to be hypo-allergenic, as they have hair rather than fur. Grooming is required, three to four times per year, depending on your preference of coat length.
The Lagotto is easy going, trainable, affectionate and very attached to his owner. A very good companion dog and an excellent watchdog. They are very curious with a natural gift for searching and a very good nose has made the breed very efficient in finding truffles; or here at the farm, my flower bulbs and the moles.
